This is a soft black surcharge and a complete set. From the position of the surcharge relative to the four characters shown above you can see that this stamp has been subjected to two hand-stamps. The top four characters read 中國郵政 Chinese Post left is the surcharge and to the right 暫作 Temporary Use. |

This is a hard purple surcharge on the
standard Chang Chun overprinted 10f stamps. It can be found in two
settings narrow 13mm width and wide 14mm width (the narrow being the
rare version). The characters read 10 Chiao (50f) temporarily
revalued. All of the stamps known for this town are shown above. |

These stamps have been identified by using Volume II of the Stamp Catalogue of China by Shui-Hon Chan and the four booklet guide The Local Overprinted Stamps of Manchuria 1945-7 by Allen D Kerr (published 1978 and now out of print).
