Above is part of a set of 14 surcharges overprinted in black. There is only one further overprint known for this town. The 1Y value is mentioned in Kerr's corrections section - book 1, (Note - Chan is missing this stamp or has discounted it). I suspect other values have yet to be recognised. |

This is a set of five surcharges. It is easy to mistake these overprints for random blue markings. Each stamp has 14 small characters in soft blue which are often almost invisible and two larger characters to indicate the surcharge. | ||||||||
These stamps have been identified by using Volume II of the Stamp Catalogue of China by Shui-Hon Chan and the four booklet guide The Local Overprinted Stamps of Manchuria 1945-7 by Allen D Kerr (published 1978 and now out of print). Both works are essential for anyone delving seriously into this subject. | ||||||||
